Children Become EQ Smart with CJ at the Mount Laurel Library two wonderful times in May. We had a great time together learning CJ’s 7 EQ Smart Voices. We shared Gifts of Love (Kind Voices) with CJ. The children shared what they liked about CJ. “CJ, I like your smile.” This is a safe way to have children learn how to relate to one another and what is appropriate to say. Practicing with CJ, creates an emotionally safe place to learn what kind voices are, how to say them and how to respond with a thank you. A kind voice is the best gift we can receive. We learn who we are by the voices we hear. This is why CJ calls kind voices, “Gifts of Love.” Sometimes the children are shy and often they don’t have the language abilities but no matter…this is how we learn to kindly and lovingly relate to another.
We then moved on to Happy Thoughts. What is a happy thought? We learned what a happy thought is and how we can one to help us feel better or manage our emotions. “Can I have a happy thought, please?” was practiced by parents and children alike. Whoever had CJ in his hands was asked for a happy thought. What a great way to learn about positive thinking that builds confidence. We also learned that if you hear a mean voice from a friend or even a relative, all you have to do is say, “Can I have a happy thought, please?” Bullies are very intimidating but this shuts them down in a very kind and respectful way. Please teach your children to approach a bully with this phrase. It truly works.
Each child receive a signed storybook and pictures were taken with CJ and me, Miss Karen
