Is our President emotionally intelligent?  This is not about politics or partisan behavior.  This is about regaining decency and humanity to our White House. When referencing the seven attributes of Emotional Intelligence developed by Daniel Goleman, we may be able to determine his EQ quotient.  Let’s begin to do just that.

Is Our President Emotionally Intelligent – 7 Warning Signs

(1) Showing empathy  Is our President empathic?  His continuous demeaning of persons not like him says that he is not.

(2) Motivating oneself and building self-confidence by making good choices leaves us scratching our heads when his means of attaining power and good standing is dependent upon foreign interference.

(3) Impulse control and the ability to delay gratification is not characteristic of his demeanor and speech patterns.

(4) Regulating your moods and self-control certainly isn’t evident when confronting his opponents.

(5) Accountability for one’s actions has eluded his repertoire for many years. Has he ever been accountable for his actions?

(6) Sustaining hope by supporting yourself and others would be evident in a pandemic instead he induces fear and risks the lives of so many Americans.

(7) Persisting in the face of frustration with the intention of meeting challenges in a positive manner. How does that fly in the face of voter fraud as an excuse to not accept a loss?

The President is Not Emotionally Intelligent

The President’s EQ quotient does not seem to exist.  His ranting and raving alone sets him apart from leaders of the free world. He must be stopped for we are the laughing stock of the civilized world.  Before his election, the U.S.A  was not one of the most civilized nations of the world. We have more violence and gun-related killings than most nations. And now, we have a president that seems to be hoping to create an autocracy with unending reign. He may very well be the end of our democracy as we know it today.  He promotes violence, racism, economical inequality, and justice only for the rich.  The emotionally intelligent serve humanity with kindness and compassion.  They too struggle with containing emotions when triggered as Joe Biden did when bullied.  However, since the emotionally intelligent are works in progress, adjustments are made and accountability is a priority.

What Example Is He Setting For Our Children?

Our children are our legacy and the next generation of adults hoping for a free and civilized country to grow and thrive.  It breaks my heart that we have left our children out of the equation when considering the effect this pandemic and Donald Trump leaves on their emotional brains in the years to come.  Children model behavior and learn from their peers and adults in their environment. When their leaders do not promote and teach the attributes of emotional intelligence, they grow up with the same prejudices, distorted morals, and a lack of compassion and humanity. We showed progress in the modeling offered by Barack Obama.  Emotional Intelligence became a model for businesses and sports. It was just heading to our schools and children when we lost our decency to the mockery of a presidency reeking of immoral behaviors.

How Do We Save Our Democracy and Our Children?

I am counting on our media, our leaders and our silent majority to step up to the plate and stop him now!  For instance, Germany’s white supremacist dictatorship wasn’t on our shores but it led to a World War. It is said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Please let’s learn from lessons of our not so distant ancestors. One man can change the face of humanity before our very eyes. Let’s not listen or react to the crude and untruthful things that Donald Trump says or does.  Therefore, we need an Emotionally Intelligent leader!
