The most important lesson to teach your children is how to help them remain emotionally safe within when they are experiencing meanness and intolerance.  The brain is a marvelous thing and it only takes 6 seconds to refocus and replace negative thoughts.  Teach your children “Happy Thoughts” that they can use at these times.  If they are brave, they can just look the attacker in the eye and say, “Can I Have a Happy Thought, Please?  This works over and over again.  Your children will be responding with a positive statement and the positive energy stops the negative right in its tracks.  Try it at home…practice with siblings and it is just great way to address what is going on right now.  For me, working with children all the time….it’s MAGIC!   Stay tuned tomorrow for suggestions on “Happy Thoughts”.
